ENSOC has been a driving force for the social INDUSTRY scene within UC, coordinating some epic tournaments and events for all to get amongst.
ENSOC holds two events throughout the year that we like to call Yarns Night. They aim to create an informal environment for students and engineers to (as you may have guessed from the name) have some really good yarns. One of the yarns night is catered to intermediate students, where speakers chat about what their own speciality is like and what kind of projects they’ve worked on. Our first-year members have found these nights really helpful for deciding which speciality to go into. Our second yarns night is targeted at 2 nd and 3 rd pro students who are looking for graduate jobs and summer internships. The event offers a great chance for students to chat with industry members over a beer or two.
ENSOC have the absolute pleasure of hosting our annual ENSOC Engineering Careers Expo. Bringing great engineering companies and UC’s fantastic engineering students together, right in the heart of the College of Engineering! The Expo is one of the highlights in the University of Canterbury year with value for both students and industry members. Students are given an opportunity to gather ideas and insights to make informed decisions about their futures. Undergraduate engineers are assisted in choosing their career and study paths, while final year students are provided with a range of graduate recruitment possibilities. The 2021 Expo will take place on the 21th of July from 10:00-15:00 at the Engineering Core (69 Creyke Road, Ilam). The event is open to everyone, feel free to come and have a look around! If your company would like to secure a stall, please do not hesitate to get in contact with firstname.lastname@example.org for any queries you have.
